On Saturday, September 19, 2015, Configuration Performing Arts Network, Inc., will host the Baltimore Beloved Community Awakening Walk for a transformed city in partnership with One God One Thought Center and The Trail of Dreams World Peace Walkers. On that day, we will unite with communities around the world to observe the International Day of Peace. We invite citizens, students, community groups, organizations and all interested parties to walk with us for this purpose, in solidarity around our common declarations for a new, healed and awakened Baltimore.
Our Baltimore Beloved Community Awakening Walk for peace and justice will begin with a unifying rally and will culminate with a peace pole planting ceremony led by international peace walkers and URI Global Trustee Audri Scott Williams and Peace Ambassador Karen Hunter Watson. An initiative of The Beloved Community Awakening Movement, Audri and Karen have previously united with community members to plant peace poles in Westport and at the One God One Thought Center in Randallstown. Baltimore is one of 45 cites to hold these international symbols of peace.
The core team for the Baltimore Beloved Community Awakening Walk will host in August and September a series of discussion groups on realizing the Beloved Community in the here and now; the historical significance of peace walks and the impact of local walks/marches for various causes (location/times/dates TBA in August). The team currently seeks hands-on support from community organizations to help (1) obtain financial support to cover the cost of the walk and walk related activities; (2)plan a walk route that will encompass communities rising to meet the challenges of renewal; (3) spread the word about the walk; (4) recruit volunteers and sponsors; and (5) identify a key location for the peace pole planting.
